The Optical Tube Schmidt-Cassegrain (SCT) is a versatile telescope with a 280 mm diameter and a focal length of 2800 mm. It consists of several optical components, including a main mirror, an aspherical corrective plate, a secondary mirror, and an angle cap with an eyepiece. Compared to Maksutov telescopes, SCT telescopes generally have shorter focal lengths and can be used for a wider range of applications. Moreover, these telescopes can achieve a reduced focal ratio of f/6.3 by utilizing a special focal length reducer that can be attached to the focuser. This feature enhances the practicality of SCT telescopes, as they are typically shorter, lighter, and have larger apertures compared to Newtonian telescopes. Focusing in SCT telescopes is similar to Maksutov telescopes, where a knob located on the back wall of the telescope is used to adjust the mirror, shifting it forward or backward to alter the focus position at the output of the optical tube. Additionally, the telescope is equipped with the StarBright XLT system, which enhances light transmission by 16% compared to traditional coatings.
