Description
The Antlia H-Alpha 50 mm 4.5 nm EDGE is a top-of-the-line astrophotography filter designed for professionals. It features a narrow transmission window with a half-width transmission of 4.5 nm, specifically optimized for capturing the 656.3 nm wavelength of red light emitted by ionized hydrogen atoms. This particular wavelength is crucial when photographing emission nebulae.
One of the key advantages of this filter is its ability to effectively eliminate unwanted light from sodium and mercury lamps while maintaining high transmission for the Hα spectral line. This makes it an indispensable tool for astrophotographers. The filter is constructed on a high-quality glass substrate, minimizing the risk of internal light reflections that could degrade image quality.
The Antlia H-Alpha 50 mm 4.5 nm EDGE filter exhibits a steep slope in its permeability window, unlike standard broadband filters. This means that it maintains consistent transmittance without a significant decrease resulting from the shift of the maximum permeability peak (CWL). Consequently, filters from the Antlia 4.5 nm EDGE family perform exceptionally well with telescopes of varying light intensities. The manufacturer's data indicates that these filters can be effectively used in optical systems with a maximum light power of f/3.
It is important to note that the Ha filter is not suitable for visual or solar observations.
