Description

ZWO, renowned for their astrophotographic products, presents the ASI 2600 MM Pro, a groundbreaking camera that has garnered significant attention since its pre-sale phase, earning it the distinction of being one of the most highly anticipated astrophotographic products of 2021.

At the core of this camera lies a monochrome CMOS sensor developed by Sony, similar to the one utilized in the color version of the ASI 2600 MM Pro. The primary distinction between these sensors is the absence of a Bayer grating, commonly found in color cameras. Notably, the IMX571 sensor exhibits an exceptionally low noise level of only 0.0024 e/s/px at 0 °C. This remarkable feature translates to negligible noise in practical terms, as even with a 300-second exposure, the total noise remains below 1e.

The Japanese-developed sensor employs back-illuminated technology, which significantly enhances its sensitivity compared to sensors produced using traditional methods. In traditional sensors, metal electrodes and transistor elements are positioned between the light source and the photodiode surface, potentially obstructing the active surface. However, the Sony IMX571 sensor eliminates this issue, resulting in a maximum quantum efficiency of 91% at its peak, thanks to the absence of a Bayer grating.

An additional advantage of utilizing a back-illuminated sensor is the elimination of the Amp-Glow effect, a long-standing nuisance for astrophotographers. The ASI 2600 MM Pro camera joins ZWO's lineup of products that are free from this issue.

Signal processing in the camera is handled by a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), ensuring an extensive tonal range and maximum dynamic range for your images.

Moreover, the ASI 2600 MM Pro boasts an intricate temperature regulation system. A two-stage Peltier module keeps the CMOS sensor's temperature low, effectively reducing noise to nearly imperceptible levels. Additionally, a dedicated heater surrounding the protective glass minimizes the risk of condensation.
