GSO telescope Do-gso 16" F/8 M-lrc Rc Ota (Truss) (GS-RC16 TRUSS)

If astrophotography is your passion and you are searching for the perfect telescope for your astronomical observatory, Ritchey-Chretien telescopes are made for you. Two hyperbolic mirrors create nearly perfect images, providing a large, well-illuminated field of view free from coma, all within a compact design. The result is perfect stars right up to the edge of the field. This is why countless professional observatories and institutes rely on this system.

Description

DO-GSO 16” RC Carbon Fiber Truss Telescope: Professional Astrophotography Tool for Your Observatory

Key Advantages:

  • Hyperbolic mirrors deliver extremely sharp images and a large field of view (F8) without the need for additional correctors

  • Quartz mirror ensures a stable focus point, eliminating the need for frequent adjustments; images remain sharp

  • Compatible with large-format CCD cameras, offering about 60 mm illumination

  • Carbon fiber truss construction

  • High reflectivity: dielectric coatings of 92-94% guarantee bright, high-contrast images and photos

  • Very short cooling time thanks to the open structure

  • Efficient fans minimize warm air movements inside the tube and accelerate optics cooling

Better Images Thanks to Hyperbolic Mirrors
RC telescopes feature hyperbolic primary and secondary mirrors. Unlike Schmidt-Cassegrain systems, there are no spherical mirrors here. This makes the RC design clearly superior, offering a wider field of view and significantly reduced aberrations. The aim is to deliver high-quality images across a wide field, making them the best choice for astrophotography and an ideal match for large CCD cameras. Your photos will be sharp right to the edge of the field with APS-C sensors, and even full-frame sensors with a flattener.

Quartz Primary Mirror
If you have experience with long-exposure astrophotography, you may have encountered shifts in focus during imaging sessions. This is extremely frustrating. The hyperbolic quartz primary mirror solves this issue—it has almost no thermal expansion, ensuring fantastic images and stable focus throughout the night. Both mirrors are coated with an anti-reflection layer offering 92-94% reflectivity, which means high-contrast, bright images. Compared to a "standard" telescope mirror with about 88% reflectivity, you get up to 17% more light.

Faster Cooling – Main Mirror Fan
A quiet, subtle hum, but what a result! The built-in 12V fan provides up to 50% faster cooling of the main mirror, so your telescope reaches optimal imaging quality sooner.

Carbon Fiber Truss Tube Construction
Most professional telescopes use a truss construction, and this telescope benefits from the same advantages. Carbon fiber tubes are rigid, lightweight, and very thermally stable—another reason the focus point does not shift. The open design allows natural ventilation of the tube, preventing heat bubbles that would otherwise degrade the image, as seen in closed-tube designs.

3” Eyepiece Focuser
The Linear Bearing 3” Crayford focuser provides sufficient optical throughput for illuminating even large-format sensors without vignetting.

  • Always perfect object orientation thanks to the rotatable focuser

  • 2” to 1.25” reduction with built-in clamping ring

  • 1:10 micro-movements for perfect focusing

  • Scale on the focuser for quickly resetting the focus point

  • Highly stable with no play, keeping the camera perfectly aligned with the optical axis and images sharp

Adjustable Focuser
Six collimation screws allow precise adjustment of the 3" focuser relative to the optical axis (focuser tilt adjustment). This ensures no tilt—the eyepiece or camera always remains on the optical axis.

Better Images Compared to SC Telescopes
The RC telescope has a completely different construction than classic SC or Maksutov telescopes. This is an open system with no corrector plate, enabling it to reach ambient temperature faster than a Schmidt-Cassegrain. The lack of a front plate mainly means brighter images with no risk of reflections. Ritchey-Chretien systems are the best-corrected dual-mirror telescopes. The sharpness in the center and at the field edge is impressive. It's no surprise that almost all large research telescopes in professional astronomical observatories use this optical design.

While there is nothing preventing this telescope from being used for visual observations with a diagonal and eyepiece, we do not recommend it for this purpose—other designs are better suited. This Astrophotography telescope is mainly intended for advanced planetary and deep-sky astrophotography. Feel free to contact us for help in selecting the right telescope.
