Celestron's EdgeHD series introduces the "aplanatic Schmidt Cassegrain telescope", marking a groundbreaking evolution in the renowned Schmidt Cassegrain design that has dominated the industry for over half a century.

EdgeHD telescopes, known as "Edge High Definition", redefine astrography with their ability to produce distortion-free, razor-sharp images extending to the furthest reaches of the visual field. Unlike traditional designs that correct only coma outside the optical axis, EdgeHD corrects both coma and field curvature, ensuring impeccable clarity across the entire frame.

Many optical systems boast of being "astrographs", promising sharp star images but often falling short with curved image planes. This curvature, particularly pronounced towards the periphery, leads to distorted stars and aberrations, especially with larger sensors. However, Celestron's Edge HD telescopes go beyond correcting coma, addressing field curvature right to the image's edge. This breakthrough significantly enhances resolution and magnitude limits, surpassing competing optical systems.

Further enhancing performance is the XLT multi-coating, providing EdgeHD scopes with a substantial performance advantage over similar offerings in the market.

The Edge HD series undergoes a comprehensive overhaul:

• Mirror clamps secure the primary mirror with precision, ensuring stability even during prolonged exposures.
• Air vents facilitate rapid cooling of the lens by facilitating fast air exchange, while an integrated air filter system prevents dust from compromising optical quality.

This particular variant of the OTA features a 3" Losmandy rail, compatible with the Celestron CGEM mount, enhancing versatility and ease of use.
