The initial 2- or 3-star alignment process through the GoTo controls is intuitive, making it straightforward for beginners and exceptionally swift for seasoned observers.

Explore Scientific's PMC-8 GoTo controls consist of a sturdy controller box that generates its Wi-Fi signal and provides necessary interfaces. All motors connect to this unit, including an ST-4 compatible autoguider interface. The controls support microstep operation for precise tracking.
Operate the controls via Wi-Fi using a PC or tablet (compatible with Windows 8.1, Windows 10, iOS, Android, and mobile devices with screen sizes of 7.1” or higher) through the specially designed ExploreStars app. This user-friendly platform displays available stars for tracking initialization and numerous celestial objects from the database along with additional information.
At the core of the controller lies a fully self-contained 2-channel processor with 8 CPUs and a Wi-Fi ethernet 10/100 adapter with IP functions, enabling operation via web browser, ASCOM, APP, or through a serial connection. Open GoTo allows users to customize firmware, adapt device functions, and create custom object lists.
