While Dobsonian telescopes offer numerous advantages, tracking celestial objects can be challenging, especially for beginners. Slight and smooth adjustments are required to compensate for the Earth's rotation, a skill that takes time to master. By placing your Dobsonian telescope on the EQ platform, this task becomes automated, with a motor compensating for the Earth's rotation. This allows for steady observation of celestial objects, even at high magnifications, without them rapidly drifting out of view. Additionally, it simplifies group observations, enabling easier sharing of astronomical experiences with family and friends.

Tracking and Alignment:

The EQ platform tracks the telescope for up to one hour on a standard 9-volt battery before requiring manual repositioning. To achieve polar alignment, the platform should be roughly aligned northward. Unlike equatorial mounts, latitude adjustment isn't necessary, as different EQ platform variants cater to various latitudes.

Selecting the Correct Variant:

To ensure compatibility, determine your latitude and select the corresponding variant. Available versions cover a range of latitudes, such as 40°, 45°, 50°, and 55°, with each variant tailored to specific regions across Europe.

Universal Compatibility:

The platform accommodates telescopes weighing up to 30kg, provided the telescope base features three feet within a maximum distance of 45 cm. Nearly all Dobsonian telescopes up to 254mm (10") aperture meet these criteria.

Important Note:

The EQ platform is not compatible with push-to systems based on encoders, such as Omegon Push+ or Orion IntelliScope.
