The Omegon EQ Platform offers a convenient tracking solution for Dobsonian telescopes.
While Dobsonian telescopes are prized for their simplicity and affordability, manually tracking celestial objects can pose challenges, particularly for beginners. Precisely adjusting the telescope to compensate for the Earth's rotation requires skill and patience. By integrating your Dobsonian telescope with the EQ Platform, tracking becomes automated, thanks to a motorized system. This enhancement allows for uninterrupted observation of celestial targets, even at high magnifications, facilitating enjoyable stargazing sessions for individuals and groups alike.

Tracking and Alignment:
The EQ Platform enables continuous tracking of the telescope for up to one hour on a standard 9-volt battery, after which manual repositioning is required. For polar alignment, a rough northward alignment is sufficient, eliminating the need to adjust latitude settings. Different EQ Platform variants cater to a range of latitudes, ensuring optimal performance based on your location.
Selecting the Correct Variant:
To determine the appropriate variant for your latitude, round your location to the nearest 5° and select the corresponding variant. Available options include variants for latitudes of 40°, 45°, 50°, and 55°, covering a wide range of European regions.
Compatibility:
The EQ Platform is compatible with most Dobsonian telescopes, supporting instruments weighing up to 30kg. Telescopes with a base featuring three feet spaced within 45 cm are suitable for use with the platform. Nearly all Dobsonian telescopes up to 254mm (10") aperture meet these criteria.
Important Note:
The EQ Platform is not compatible with push-to systems based on encoders, such as Omegon Push+ or Orion IntelliScope.
