Astronomik CLS-CCD Filter

The Astronomik CLS CCD filter is specifically crafted for DSLR cameras adapted for astronomical usage, particularly in light-polluted environments. It significantly enhances the contrast between deep-sky objects and the background.

Since late 2008, we've introduced our redesigned line of photographic filters, now featuring our latest "Halo-Free" filters.

The CLS-CCD Filter boosts the contrast between celestial objects and the background by featuring a wider transmission curve compared to UHC filters. This allows more light to pass through, resulting in less dimming of stars. Engineered to block as much stray light as possible while maintaining optimal performance for useful light, this filter is suitable for DSLR, CCD, and black-and-white film photography, as well as observation of deep-sky objects using telescopes or photo lenses with apertures of f/3 and above.

Main Use:

This filter effectively blocks emission lines from artificial light sources such as streetlights (e.g., sodium and mercury vapor) and airglow. It allows passage of important emission lines and the spectral range visible to the night-adapted eye. Additionally, the supplementary IR-blocking layer enables its use with DSLRs and webcams lacking integrated IR-block filters.

Please note: While Clip-Filters are generally compatible with all camera lenses, including Canon EF lenses and those from third-party manufacturers such as Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, and Walimex, they cannot be used with Canon EF-S lenses.

In contrast to purely visual filters, photographic CCD filters feature built-in IR-blocking, mitigating optical issues caused by infrared radiation.
