Astronomik CLS Filter

The Astronomik CLS serves as a cost-effective solution for visual observation, black & white photography, and CCD imaging of nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters across instruments of any size.

Since the conclusion of 2008, we have overhauled our entire range of photographic filters and are now introducing our latest "Halo-Free" filters.

The Astronomik CLS effectively blocks the light emitted by spectral lines of mercury and sodium-vapor lamps while allowing the majority of visible light and H-alpha emissions to pass through. Crucially, all significant emission lines and the spectral region visible to a well-dark-adapted eye are permitted through the filter.

Main Use:

These filters are optimized for use with aperture ratios ranging from 1:3 to 1:15. Transmission losses and chromatic distortions, common issues with other filters, are only observed with Astronomik filters when extremely bright aperture ratios of 1:2 and above are utilized. The CLS filter is compatible with telescopes of all aperture sizes.

In contrast to purely visual filters, photographic CCD filters feature built-in IR-blocking, mitigating optical problems caused by infrared radiation.
