Baader Filters C2 Swan-Band 15nm 2"

Introducing the Baader C2 SWAN-Band-Filter, meticulously designed to isolate the two C2 lines at 511 and 514nm.

Named after their discoverer, these two emission lines, known as Swan bands, prominently feature in a comet's gas tail spectrum in the visible range. By permitting only the light from these carbon bands to pass through, the filter effectively blocks stray light, akin to a nebula filter in deep-sky observation. As a result, the structures within the gas tail become more distinct, even under favorable observing conditions.

Simultaneously, it effectively obstructs the OIII line at 501nm and below, a feature absent in other Swan-Band filters. This enhances contrast further, facilitating clearer differentiation between comets dominated by gas tails and those characterized by dust tails, where a SWAN filter offers minimal contrast enhancement.
