Description

SII Filter: Designed specifically for nebula photography, the narrowband S-II 7nm filter selectively transmits light at a wavelength of 672nm, featuring a bandpass of 3nm.

This filter proves effective for capturing a wide range of celestial phenomena, including emission nebulae, planetary nebulae, and supernova remnants.

For those aiming to replicate the iconic visual style of Hubble Space Telescope images, such as the renowned "Pillars of Creation" in the Eagle Nebula (Messier 16), the SII (es-two) or sulfur filter becomes a crucial addition to their arsenal. Operating akin to the H-alpha filter, the SII filter accentuates the deep red hues around 672nm, contributing to the distinctive aesthetic associated with Hubble imagery. When used in conjunction with H-alpha and OIII filters, the SII filter completes a trio that mimics the Hubble look across various emission nebulae. Notably, employing these three filters enables efficient tri-color narrowband imaging even in the presence of moonlight, ensuring continuous utilization of equipment without prolonged periods of inactivity.
