Optolong Venus-U Filter

The Optolong Venus-U filter facilitates the capture of photographs, CCD, or video images in the UV-A spectrum (320-400 nm), allowing for the observation of Venus' cloud structures.

For use with monochrome CCD cameras, it's necessary to remove the sensor's cover glass and internal UV-IR blocker to enable UV light transmission. The same applies to monochrome DSLRs, where the built-in low pass filter must be removed. Additionally, a specialized UV lens is required in conjunction with the camera body. All-reflecting telescopes, such as Newtonians and RCs (without corrector), are compatible, provided their reflective layers are constructed of aluminum. CCD or CMOS camera sensors are sensitive to light within the 350-1100 nm range.

WARNING: Optolong filters are not intended for solar observation. NEVER view the sun through an Optolong filter, as failure to heed this warning can result in blindness.

  • Electron-beam gun evaporation with Ion-assisted deposition coating technology ensures durability, scratch resistance, and stability on the central wavelength (CWL), unaffected by temperature changes.
  • Planetary rotation system guarantees precision and uniformity of coatings, ensuring high transmission within the pass-band and optimal optical density in off-band regions.
