The SBIG FW8G-STT presents an innovative 8-position 36mm filter wheel tailored for the STT Series cameras, featuring a built-in self-guiding capability.

This unique filter wheel integrates a guiding CCD and associated optics within its front cover, allowing the guider to capture light from guide stars before it traverses through the filters.

A standout feature of the STT filter wheel is its positive centering mechanism, ensuring precise re-positioning and secure locking of filters in the exact same location over the CCD, irrespective of power loss or movements in the filter wheel. In rigorous testing, utilizing an STT-8300, the filter re-positioning exhibited accuracy within a remarkable 5.4 microns after multiple complete rotations of the filter carousel. Such precision guarantees that flat fields obtained post-movement and return of the filter remain accurate to a single pixel.

This self-guiding filter wheel is exclusively compatible with SBIG STT Series cameras, boasting an optical length of 37.3 mm, resulting in an optical backfocus of 53.5 mm when coupled with an STT camera.
