i-Nova Technologies - Smart Imaging System (SIS)
The Smart Imaging System (SIS) offers a modular solution centered around the SIS-Box, a robust computer running Linux Ubuntu OS, accompanied by interchangeable camera sensor modules for imaging. This entire system seamlessly attaches to a telescope like any other astronomy camera. In addition to managing camera control and image acquisition, the SIS-Box computer can oversee any INDI-compatible device, ranging from filter wheels to automated domes, telescope mounts, and electric focusers. This integrated approach facilitates advanced astrophotography without the need for a power-hungry external computer to control operations.
There are two primary modes of utilizing the SIS. In direct mode, the system connects via an HDMI port to a monitor or TV and is navigated using a wireless mini-keyboard. In remote access mode, the VNC Viewer software is installed on any client device (desktop PC, laptop, mobile device), facilitating connection to the SIS over the Internet or a local network. The VNC Viewer software is compatible with various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
The current software package on the SIS includes:
- Planisphere: Sky Charts for locating celestial objects and controlling the mount
- PhD2 Guiding for autoguiding
- SISCapture for imaging, visual enhancement, real-time processing, and stacking
- Over time, the software package will expand through automatic software updates.
