The Flatfield Box (FFB) is indispensable for achieving precise calibration of astrophotos. By eliminating vignetting and shadowing caused by dust particles, it ensures the production of flawlessly flat images, crucial for revealing faint signals and enhancing contrast. 1. Color-Neutral Light: The emitted light is highly color-neutral, allowing for rapid saturation of color channels and ensuring successful flats even with narrow band filters.
2. Uniform Illumination: Unlike traditional flatfield generators, the FFB provides extremely uniform illumination across the entire surface and edge, minimizing variations.
3. Flicker-Free LEDs: The LEDs operate at a different frequency from the mains, enabling the use of significantly shorter exposure times (e.g., 1/500 seconds) without causing the "venetian blind" effect.
4. Optimal Brightness: Emitting only about 10% of the brightness of many other models, the FFB is suitable for highly sensitive CMOS and CCD cameras, ensuring optimal image quality.
