William Optics Flattener Flat73A for ZenithStar 73

The flattener serves as a lens to level the field, addressing the slight curvature caused by primary optics. This curvature often results in less sharp stars at the field's periphery. Also known as a field flattener, it remedies this, ensuring astrophotographers capture sharp stars across the entire frame.

Description

The flattener serves as a lens to level the field, addressing the slight curvature caused by primary optics. This curvature often results in less sharp stars at the field's periphery. Also known as a field flattener, it remedies this, ensuring astrophotographers capture sharp stars across the entire frame. Installed between the telescope and the camera, it offers:

Installation: Securely attach the flattener to the focuser thread. Remove the colored anodized end piece, as depicted, which is used to attach a socket. This piece becomes redundant when using a flattener. Store it safely in case you wish to use the lens visually with a diagonal mirror. Simply screw the flattener into the focuser's thread.

A T2 thread is provided for camera mounting. For DSLR cameras, use the appropriate T2/bayonet adapter. This ensures a secure, tilt-free system.

The flattener is adjustable for setting the correct distance. Secure it using the knurled locking ring, eliminating the need for a separate extension sleeve.

Filters can be directly attached to the flattener using the M48 thread. Unscrew the end piece on the camera side to access the M48 thread for filter attachment. Reassemble the flattener, and you're done!
