Utilizing AstroSolar™ renders the Sun in a neutral white hue, unlike other films or glass filters that often produce a blurry blue or red solar image, diminishing parts of the spectrum. This is particularly noticeable with an orange sun, making it difficult to discern faculae regions, primarily visible in the blue spectrum.

Thanks to its balanced color profile, AstroSolar™ permits the use of various color or interference filters, allowing observers to focus on specific spectral passbands for investigating different layers within the solar atmosphere.

AstroSolar™ boasts exceptional pinhole resistance. Unlike many expensive glass filters, it is coated on both sides, significantly reducing the likelihood of pinhole overlaps. Pinholes, if any, occur at a rate of only 1 in 10,000 at optical density 2.5! Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has received eye safety approval from Germany's National Bureau of Standards, PTB. Moreover, AstroSolar™ is CE-tested according to EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196), with all associated processes rigorously tested for consistency to ensure eye safety.

The Baader AstroSolar™ film Filter cell is crafted from lightweight 18Ga. aluminum and powder coated white. Featuring heavy-duty threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews, it guarantees a secure fit.
