Nikon Software NIS PLUG-IN (High Dynamic Range) (65558)

The Nikon Software NIS Plug-in (High Dynamic Range) is an advanced add-on for Nikon’s NIS-Elements imaging software, designed to enhance image quality when working with samples that contain both very bright and very dark areas. This plug-in is especially useful in laboratory, research, and industrial settings where standard imaging may lose detail due to limited camera dynamic range. By combining several images taken at different exposure levels, the High Dynamic Range (HDR) plug-in creates a single image that preserves details across the full intensity spectrum.

Description

The Nikon Software NIS Plug-in (High Dynamic Range) is an advanced add-on for Nikon’s NIS-Elements imaging software, designed to enhance image quality when working with samples that contain both very bright and very dark areas. This plug-in is especially useful in laboratory, research, and industrial settings where standard imaging may lose detail due to limited camera dynamic range. By combining several images taken at different exposure levels, the High Dynamic Range (HDR) plug-in creates a single image that preserves details across the full intensity spectrum. It is compatible with various versions of NIS-Elements, including Documentation (D), Basic Research (BR), and Advanced Research (AR), and is suitable for color, brightfield, and fluorescence microscopy.

Enables users to capture and produce images that show optimal brightness and detail in both dark and bright regions of a sample by merging multiple exposures into one HDR image.

Key Functions:

  • Automatically captures a series of images at different exposure settings and merges them into a single HDR image

  • Can create HDR images from saved image sequences or ND files

  • Includes a reflection-free mode to reduce oversaturation from reflective surfaces

  • Supports both real-time HDR capture and post-processing from existing images

  • Integrates with other NIS-Elements features, such as Extended Depth of Focus (EDF), for comprehensive imaging workflows

Compatibility:
Requires an active version of NIS-Elements D, BR, or AR. The HDR module is included with Confocal (C) and Advanced Research (AR) packages and can be added to other versions.

Applications:
Biological and materials science imaging
Samples with high contrast between light and dark areas
Fluorescence, brightfield, and color microscopy
Imaging of reflective or polished surfaces

Main Features:

  • Expands the dynamic range of images beyond camera sensor limitations

  • Preserves detail in both underexposed and overexposed regions

  • User-friendly interface for HDR image capture and processing

  • Allows saving of individual exposures used in the HDR composite

  • Integrates seamlessly with NIS-Elements image database and reporting tools

This plug-in is ideal for users who need to capture detailed images of samples with challenging lighting, ensuring that all features are clearly visible in the final image.
