Description

An off-axis guider is a practical tool for astrophotographers, making it easier to guide your telescope during long-exposure imaging sessions. Instead of attaching a bulky and heavy guide scope, you can use this compact and lightweight device, which is especially helpful for smaller telescopes or mounts with limited load capacity. The off-axis guider slots directly into a 2-inch focuser and features a standard T2 thread on the camera side, making camera attachment straightforward-just add a compatible T-ring for your DSLR and you’re ready to go.

The device works by diverting a small portion of incoming light through a lateral prism, which is then available for a guiding camera or reticule eyepiece through a 1.25-inch opening. This setup allows you to find a suitable guide star and start guiding immediately, ensuring precise tracking and sharp stars in your deep-sky images.

The Scops OAG model takes this concept further by offering motorized focus adjustment, ideal for remote operation. You can fine-tune the guide camera focus with high precision using ASCOM drivers or standalone software. The system is powered and controlled by a single USB cable, with all electronics integrated into the guider body, simplifying setup and operation.

A stepper motor guarantees accurate focus positioning, and you can store focus profiles for different filters, allowing quick and precise adjustments with just a click in the software. The guider features a large, fully multicoated 10×10 mm mirror for bright, round stars across the entire field of view. The adjustable prism height ensures optimal illumination for various camera sensor sizes and prevents obstruction of the main imaging sensor’s optical path.
