TS Optics ADC atmospheric dispersion corrector (59765)

The TS Optics ADC (Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector) is a specialized accessory designed to combat the effects of atmospheric dispersion when observing or photographing astronomical objects. As light from stars and planets passes through the Earth's atmosphere, it is refracted differently depending on the wavelength, causing color fringing around planetary discs. This effect, known as dispersion, cannot be corrected by your telescope’s optics alone—even with high-quality, apochromatic instruments. The ADC uses two adjustable silicate glass prisms to introduce an opposite chromatic aberration, effectively neutralizing the atmospheric dispersion and eliminating unwanted color fringing. The relative position of the prisms can be finely adjusted using a small slide.

This corrector is especially useful for observers and astrophotographers who view planets or stars at low elevations, where atmospheric dispersion is most pronounced.
