Elegant and Well-Designed Mount
The Sky-Watcher AZ5 is a lightweight, portable alt-azimuth mount made of cast aluminum. It is equipped with fine adjustment controls and supports a maximum payload of 5 kg. The optical tube can be attached using a 45 mm dovetail rail (Sky-Watcher/Vixen standard).

Tripod Construction
The aluminum tripod legs are telescopic and can be extended or locked at any height using integrated clamps. The total height of the tripod with the mount head is between 86.5 cm and 158.0 cm (the maximum height includes a 21 cm extension column). The screw connecting the head to the column and tripod is a standard 3/8-inch size.

Smooth Movement Controls
The mount comes with two flexible slow-motion control cables: one for vertical movement and one for horizontal movement, allowing smooth and precise adjustments. A 21 cm extension column is also included, which can be installed between the tripod and the mount head.

Movement Range and Stability
The mount head offers a vertical movement range from -50° to +90°. The head arm can be set in a vertical position for greater stability. However, for observing objects high above the horizon, the factory-recommended setup with the arm tilted backwards is preferred.

Best Use
This mount works best with short, compact optical tubes. Thanks to the fine adjustment controls, the AZ5 is particularly well-suited for Maksutov or Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, which, despite their small size, allow for achieving high magnifications.
