Description

The 130/650 telescope tube offers excellent value, portability, and rich equipment. It is an ideal model for beginners entering the world of amateur astronomy and is often chosen as a first telescope. The BKP 130/650 OTAW is equipped with a parabolic primary mirror, eliminating spherical aberration. With its optimal focal ratio, it provides a wide field of view when paired with the right eyepieces. The tube also features a high-quality 2" focuser with a microfocuser for precise focusing.

Optical system
The BKP 130/650 is a Newtonian reflector telescope. Due to its brightness, it is particularly well-suited for deep-sky observations such as star clusters, galaxies, and nebulae. It also performs well for planetary and lunar observations. Its main advantage is the large 130 mm parabolic mirror, which gathers about 240 times more light than the human eye, allowing the observation of objects up to magnitude 12 (naked-eye visibility is limited to about magnitude 6). The mirror size also provides optical resolution sufficient to separate stars spaced more than 1.1" apart.

Mount
Supplied without a mount.

Focuser
The telescope is fitted with a 2" focuser with a microfocuser and adapter for 1.25" eyepieces. A 2" 28 mm eyepiece is included.

Astronomical observations

  1. Solar System

  • Lunar surface features larger than 2.2 km

  • Sunspots and their structures (with proper solar filter)

  • All planets of the Solar System

  • Phases of Mercury and Venus

  • Mars’ disk with polar caps and surface details during opposition

  • Jupiter’s equatorial bands, Galilean moons, Great Red Spot, and moon shadows

  • Saturn’s rings, Titan, other smaller moons, and Cassini Division under good conditions

  • Uranus and Neptune as small disks

  • Motion of asteroids against the stars

  • Bright comets

  1. Stars

  • Around 1.9 million stars across the sky up to magnitude 12–12.5

  • Double and multiple stars with separations greater than 1.1"

  • Colors of the brightest stars

  1. Deep-sky objects

  • Nearly all Messier catalog objects

  • Dozens to hundreds of globular clusters, with some resolved at the edges

  • Hundreds of open clusters

  • Dozens of nebulae with visible details

  • Many galaxies, with the brightest showing some structure

Terrestrial observations
This type of telescope is not well-suited for terrestrial viewing. To correct the inverted image, an erecting lens is required.

Included equipment

  • Tube rings with dovetail rail

  • 28 mm 2" eyepiece
