The Nikon Z50 is a compact DX-format mirrorless camera built around the flexible Z mount. Designed for both photography and video, it uses a 20.9 MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6 image processor to deliver fast shooting up to 11 fps, a responsive 209-point hybrid autofocus system with eye detection, and strong low-light performance up to ISO 51200.

For video work, the camera records UHD 4K footage up to 30 fps and Full HD up to 120 fps for smooth slow-motion playback. In-camera clip trimming allows quick editing, and a range of 20 Creative Picture Controls plus 10 Special Effects modes let you give your photos and videos a distinctive look.

Despite its slim form, the body remains comfortable and secure to hold, even for long shooting sessions. A 2.36M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder provides a sharp, clear eye-level view, while the 3.2" rear touchscreen tilts 180° downward, making it ideal for selfies and front-facing video. The magnesium alloy body is weather-sealed to handle challenging conditions. For fast sharing and remote control, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work with the Nikon SnapBridge app to wirelessly transfer images and videos and operate the camera from a smartphone or tablet.

20.9 MP DX-format sensor and EXPEED 6 processor

The 20.9 MP DX-format CMOS sensor is paired with the EXPEED 6 processor to deliver a flexible mix of high sensitivity, image quality, and speed. The native ISO range of 100–51200 supports shooting in many different lighting situations and can be extended up to ISO 204800 for very low-light scenes. The combination of the sensor’s resolution and size helps produce clean images with smooth color transitions and low noise across the sensitivity range.

The EXPEED 6 processor also provides strong performance throughout the system, including full-resolution continuous shooting at up to 11 fps and up to 30 fps shooting at 8 MP.

The sensor incorporates a 209-point hybrid autofocus system that uses both phase-detection and contrast-detection methods to focus quickly and accurately for stills and video. Eye Detection AF uses facial recognition to lock focus on the subject’s eyes for more precise portraits.

UHD 4K video recording

Beyond still images, the Z50 is well suited to video creation. It records UHD 4K (3840 × 2160) video at up to 30 fps and Full HD (1920 × 1080) at up to 120 fps, which is ideal for smooth slow-motion playback. Footage can be recorded directly to the memory card in the camera or output to an optional external recorder via HDMI. The camera also includes in-camera time-lapse functions, allowing you to create finished UHD 4K time-lapse movies without extra software.

Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter

The Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter features a slimmed-down design without a built-in tripod foot, making it more comfortable to use on cameras with built-in or attached battery grips or wireless transmitters. While it is more compact than the original FTZ, it retains the same functionality.

The adapter allows F-mount DSLR lenses to be used on Z-mount mirrorless bodies. It supports approximately 360 F-mount lenses in total and is particularly well suited to more than 90 AF-S and AF-P type D, E, and G lenses, for which it fully preserves autofocus and auto-exposure. Built from magnesium alloy and weather-sealed, it is durable and suitable for outdoor work.
