Description
This water immersion objective uses distilled water as the immersion medium. Distilled water has no inherent fluorescence and does not contaminate physiological solutions, making it especially suitable for biological research. Unlike oil immersion objectives, it requires no special cleaning procedures and eliminates additional costs associated with immersion oil or cleaning solvents. Oil immersion objectives deliver high resolution and contrast only when the specimen is in direct contact with the cover glass. When cellular structures are examined at a micrometer-scale distance from the cover glass, oil can introduce significant optical distortions. Replacing oil with water effectively eliminates this issue, making the water immersion objective an excellent choice for live-cell microscopy.
The 100×/1.10 objective offers a resolution limit of 0.26 µm. Chromatic aberrations are corrected for blue and red wavelengths, spherical aberration is corrected for green, and field curvature is corrected across 90% of the field of view diameter, ensuring high image clarity and uniform focus.
The objective is designed for infinity-corrected optical systems and features a parfocal distance of 60 mm. When paired with a 10×/22 mm eyepiece, it provides a 0.22 mm field of view diameter. The optical design is optimized for specimens mounted with 0.17 mm cover slips, allowing precise and reliable imaging.
When using a 100× objective, the microscope’s useful magnification range extends from 550× to 1100×. Magnifications below this range do not allow fine specimen details to be resolved, while higher magnifications do not reveal additional image information and are therefore considered optically ineffective. For optimal performance with the 100×/1.10 objective, eyepieces with magnifications from 5× to 10× are recommended.
Plan achromatic optics ensure consistent focus across the entire field of view, from the center to the edges, resulting in negligible distortion. This makes the objective well suited for digital imaging and for use with wide-field eyepieces offering a 22 mm field of view.
