A flat field mask produces an evenly illuminated white surface with controlled brightness. By placing the mask over the telescope optics and capturing an image of this illuminated surface, you create a flat field frame. This flat field image reveals the exact brightness distribution of your optical system and allows you to correct gradients, vignetting, and dust shadows during image processing.

For best results, the mask should be used under the same conditions and with the same optical setup as your actual imaging session. The device is designed for portable use and can be powered accordingly.

Thanks to advanced LED technology, the panel generates a truly neutral white surface without color tint. The light source does not flicker, making short exposure times possible.

The swiveling LED panel provides uniform illumination for telescopes with an aperture of up to 120 mm, ensuring accurate flat frames for astrophotography and photometric applications. The hinged cover can rotate between 0° and 270°, allowing it to function both as a flat field panel and as a protective cover that shields the telescope optics from dust and moisture. A dedicated silicone flange ensures a light-tight and dust-tight seal.

Brightness can be adjusted continuously, and individual brightness levels can be saved for each filter and recalled instantly. The FlatMaster Neo delivers very high brightness, supporting short exposure times of approximately 2 to 3 seconds at f/7, even when using 3 nm narrowband filters.

A single USB-C cable provides both power and control. A manual button allows easy opening and closing of the cover.

The device features an integrated dew heater that actively removes moisture at full power, keeping the surface dry and preventing condensation between the mask and the telescope lens after closing. A built-in temperature and humidity sensor automatically regulates the heating output based on the calculated dew point. This function can be enabled or disabled as needed, and the heating level can also be manually adjusted and saved. An integrated light sensor enhances automation by automatically closing the lid at sunrise.

Built-in Wi-Fi enables connection and control either through the device’s own Wi-Fi hotspot or via an existing network. Operation is possible through a smartphone or computer. The FlatMaster is compatible with ASCOM 7 and ASCOM Alpaca for PC-based control.
