Built around Gen 2 commercial-grade image intensifier tubes, it offers an excellent price-to-performance ratio. The bright light cut-off feature ensures the protection of sensitive electronics, while the Manual Gain Control adjusts image brightness, delivering high-quality visuals even in changing light conditions. The NVG-50 operates on either a single AA alkaline battery or a CR123A battery, providing up to 20 hours of runtime. It also includes an integral infrared illuminator for tasks like reading in complete darkness.
For hands-free operation, the NVG-50 is compatible with a wide range of mounts, including AN/PVS-7D, AN/PVS-14, AN/PVS-7A/C, AN/PVS-15, and AN/PVS-18 models, as well as mounts with a mini-rail interface. The preinstalled NVG Interface Shoe allows for easy installation onto standard dovetail type headset and helmet mounts, while the included Bayonet/Horn Interface Shoe can be used with standard bayonet/horn type mounts. An optional NVG Interface Shoe with Connector allows connection to a battery pack, and the Mini-Rail Interface Shoe is included for mounts using the mini-rail system.
