Description

Harnessing the power of a newly developed APS-C sensor, the Sony FX30 offers daily content creators and aspiring filmmakers a powerful yet accessible cinema camera with which to propel their cinematic journey to new heights. It combines an image pipeline designed for film capture with a comprehensive feature set and intuitive operation to create a complete system for all levels of film production.

Cinematic expression

26MP APS-C / Super 35mm Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor

The FX30's advanced imaging system is on par with Sony's other Cinema Line options, capturing detailed 10-bit 4K UHD images at up to 120fps, providing specs suitable for a true cinema camera. The newly developed 26MP APS-C Exmor R CMOS sensor and BIONZ XR processor are capable of creating high quality 4K images with Super 35mm (16: 9) area. This system is capable of capturing over 14 stops of dynamic range and benefits from the Dual Base ISO architecture to improve performance in low light conditions.

High sensitivity recording up to ISO 32000 and Dual Base ISO (800/2500).

When using S-Log3, the FX30 can capture over 14 stops of dynamic range.

Records in 10-bit 4: 2: 2 using the advanced XAVC HS and XAVC SI formats.

Full pixel reading from the 6K sensor creates high quality 4K UHD video up to 60fps.

High-speed shooting is possible in 4K up to 120 fps with a 1.6x crop and in Full HD up to 240 fps.

The HDMI output supports 16-bit raw video for select separately available recorders.

Professional image control

Filmmakers will be able to capture ready-to-publish images for fast turnaround projects or opt for the highest quality and flexibility in post with a wide range of image control options:

S-Cinetone uses the same color science as Sony's advanced motion picture cameras, including the VENICE line, with natural midtones, soft colors and gradual dimming of highlights.

Image profiles, such as S-Log3 and HLG, will capture images with expanded dynamic range and flexibility for editors.

Creative looks can be integrated into the recorded footage to create a specific atmosphere during recording and minimize the need for editing.

You can set up to 16 user-created LUTs and three presets to accurately monitor footage or preview a specific aspect while shooting. These can be applied to the camera monitor or EVF, as well as the HDMI output.

Operation for all levels

Professional features will help ensure that beginners and professionals alike can get the most out of the FX30. This includes three log resume modes:

Flexible ISO uses standard ISO settings for easy operation and maximum flexibility.

Cine EI ensures maximum dynamic range capture by recording at a manually selected base ISO setting and applying adjustments to metadata for monitoring and post-production.

Cine EI quick will automatically switch between the two base ISO settings for easier operation and great quality.

Intuitive operations and controls

Fast hybrid AF

Enjoy high-speed, highly accurate autofocus performance in every mode, including 4K up to 120fps, using an advanced fast hybrid AF system using 495 points spread across 90% of the image sensor.

Real-time Eye AF function and real-time tracking will follow the eyes of humans and animals.

The AF Assist function automatically switches to manual focus by rotating the lens focus ring.

Focus Map makes it easier to see the region of focus in the scene

Internal 5-axis image stabilization

Sony has equipped the FX30 with an integrated 5-axis image stabilization system that will help create smooth images even when working hand-held. There is an active mode that blends optical systems with digital enhancements to capture ultra-smooth movies. The FX30 can also record gyro movement when the optical stabilizers are off, which can be used in post to create a stable shot.
