RED advances its KOMODO line with the introduction of the black KOMODO-X 6K, a digital cinema camera designed to elevate professional filmmaking with its enhanced features. Boasting faster frame rates, a redesigned S35 sensor, and updated interfaces, the KOMODO-X empowers filmmakers with versatile capabilities.

Next-Gen KOMODO Sensor:

Despite maintaining the same size as the original 6K S35 global-shutter KOMODO sensor, the KOMODO-X sensor has undergone a ground-up redesign. This overhaul results in significant architectural improvements, delivering superior image quality, enhanced shadow detail, and vibrant colors. Users can capture footage at frame rates of up to 80 fps in 6K and up to 120p in 4K.

Compact KOMODO Form:

The KOMODO-X 6K camera seamlessly blends select DSMC3 features with the compact KOMODO design. It accommodates the upcoming PRO I/O Module for auxiliary power and supports full-size Gold and V-mount batteries. Additionally, it features a built-in micro plate, allowing for the direct mounting of Micro V-mount batteries without requiring an adapter. The camera also incorporates a full-size, 6-pin 11-17VDC power input.

Canon RF Mount:

Equipped with a reinforced, locking Canon RF lens mount, the KOMODO-X offers RED's toolless lens-mount feature, ensuring compatibility with a wide array of lenses. For ARRI PL-mount lenses, users can utilize the KOMODO-X with the RED RF to PL adapter, which includes an electronic ND filter.

Integrated LCD:

The KOMODO-X features an integrated 2.9" LCD, facilitating image preview and simplified control in tight shooting environments. For more precise monitoring and full control, users can pair the camera with the daylight-viewable, high-resolution DSMC3 7" Touch LCD, eliminating cable clutter.

Live Streaming and Expanded In/Out:

The KOMODO-X boasts expanded interface options, including 12G-SDI video output up to 4K60p and a USB-C port with Ethernet offload capabilities. With built-in Wi-Fi, users can engage in 1080p IP live streaming for web applications and in-app monitoring.

CFexpress Type B:

Featuring a single media slot compatible with CFexpress Type B cards, the KOMODO-X enables high-capacity, fast data recording. Users can record up to 17 hours using a 4TB CFexpress Type B card and offload data up to 3x faster than CFast media.

Advanced Connectivity:

The KOMODO-X excels in streamlined IP workflows, offering USB-C interface and integrated Wi-Fi functionality. With the RED Control or Control Pro apps, users gain remote camera control, FTP media off-loading, and in-camera Cloud uploading capabilities. Additionally, by adding a RED Connect license, users can broadcast up to 6K live images over IP directly from the camera.

Audio Interface:

Enhanced audio options include a locking, phantom-powered 5-pin connector compatible with 3.5mm adapters and KOMODO microphones, as well as dual XLR adapters for a wide range of microphones.
