Sony PMW-F5 Cine-Alta Camcorder

The Sony PMW-F5 CineAlta Digital Cinema Camera boasts an 8.9 MP Super 35mm image sensor, capturing 2K and HD internally in Sony's XAVC codec onto SxS PRO+ memory cards, with the option for 4K and 2K RAW recording to an external Sony AXS-R5 recorder. Offering a dynamic range of 14 stops, applicable to both RAW and XAVC recordings when S-Log is activated, it delivers cinematic rendering of highlights and shadows. Equipped with an FZ mount by default, it comes bundled with a PL-mount adapter for enhanced lens compatibility.

Straight out of the box, the F5 captures 2K and HD up to 59.94p in XAVC. With firmware updates, it extends its capabilities to record 4K RAW from 1p to 60p and 2K RAW from 1p to 240p with the AXS-R5 recorder. Additionally, it enables 1080p 4:2:2 recording from 1fps to 180fps internally in XAVC. Furthermore, it facilitates internal SStP SR recording at 4:4:4 when selecting RGB mode at 440 Mbps. All RAW recordings are in 16-bit format.

Highly Modular Design

The F5's digital interface supports various optional viewfinders, including the DVF-EL100 OLED viewfinder, DVF-L350 LCD viewfinder, and DVF-L700 Full HD LCD viewfinder. Modular components extend to the optional Sony shoulder rig, facilitating quick attachment of third-party accessories via industry-standard rosettes.

Optional AXS-R5 "Bolt-on" Recorder

The AXS-R5 recorder, attachable to the rear of the PMW-F5, enables 4K and 2K resolution video recording in 16-bit RAW. It also supports high-speed frame rates of up to 120 fps in 2K RAW, along with simultaneous RAW + on-board SxS recording.

Native FZ-Mount and PL-Mount Adapter

The F5 accommodates a wide range of lenses, with the included PL-mount adapter enabling the use of cine optics from various renowned brands. Removing the adapter reveals the native FZ-mount, supporting Sony's SCL-Z18X140 auto-focus servo zoom lens and various adaptors for still lenses.

With an impressive 14 stops of exposure latitude, low-light sensitivity, and minimal noise in blacks, the F5 rivals traditional motion picture film in rendering a range of exposure values from shadows to highlights.

Long-life Olivine Battery and Quick Charger

Supporting Sony's BP-FL75 battery pack, the F5 boasts increased charge-discharge cycles compared to previous models. The Olivine battery pairs with Sony's BC-L90 quick charger, with compatibility extending to other Sony batteries and chargers.

Intuitive One-touch Interface

Featuring an intuitive interface designed in collaboration with cinematographers, the F5 provides direct, one-touch access to key shooting parameters such as frame rate, shutter speed, and ISO sensitivity. Assignable buttons ensure quick access to preferred adjustments.

Wide Choice of Connections

The F5 offers a plethora of connections including HD-SDI jacks, HDMI, USB, XLR audio module, and time code/genlock module. XLR inputs support balanced analog signals, provide phantom power, and accommodate four channels of AES/EBU digital audio.
