This globe is the result of a successful collaboration between designers, cartographers, and glass-blowers. It combines artistry and precision to create a truly exceptional product.

The Duo Map

The political map (when unilluminated) displays the countries of the Earth in harmonized colors. When illuminated, the physical map reveals mountains, tectonic plates, plains, and sea beds. The map is manually applied to a blown crystal sphere that is seamless and highly luminous.

The illuminated map creates an astonishing impression of relief. Columbus goes beyond standard printing techniques to achieve a flawless, deep shine. The process begins in their advanced "clean printing room," where only superior acrylic sheets are used. Paper is strictly prohibited to avoid contamination from fine dust particles during the printing process. Up to 24 successive layers of color are printed, with curing, inspection, and cleaning between each layer. After printing is complete, a high-gloss clear coat is applied over the entire map before undergoing final inspection by the cartographic department.
