Description

The GSO Dobson 8 "DeLuxe 203/1200 M-CRF telescope is an exceptional instrument designed for advanced visual observations of various astronomical objects. Manufactured by the renowned Taiwanese GSO factory, this telescope features a high-quality main mirror with a rotary paraboloid shape, measuring 203 mm in diameter and possessing a focal length of 1200 mm (light f/6). The GSO factory is well-known for its commitment to producing optics of the highest quality, ensuring limited diffraction and superior image quality. With this telescope, you can capture excellent views of celestial objects within our Solar System, as well as clusters of stars, nebulae, and galaxies.

Optimized Design and Enhanced Performance

The GSO Dobson 8 "DeLuxe 203/1200 M-CRF telescope builds upon the traditional Dobson telescope concept and incorporates several beneficial design improvements. These enhancements optimize its performance and provide an improved observing experience.

Versatile Observation Capabilities

This telescope is a versatile tool suitable for conducting advanced visual observations of all types of astronomical objects. While it performs well under various observational conditions, it particularly shines in dark, rural skies, where it can truly showcase the wonders of the universe.

The telescope offers exceptional observations of numerous objects, including:

  • Craters on the moon: Explore countless formations with excellent plasticity around the terminator.
  • Phases of Mercury and Venus: Observe the delicate formations in Venus' atmosphere, while appreciating the phases of Mercury.
  • Ice caps on Mars: Experience clear visibility of Mars' ice caps, and consider purchasing red, orange, or yellow filters for enhanced viewing.
  • Stripes and structure in Jupiter's atmosphere: Discover the intricate details of Jupiter's atmospheric belts, along with its "tropical" and circumpolar regions. Observe the Great Red Spot and the four Jovian moons.
  • Saturn's ring and features: Marvel at the beauty of Saturn's rings, including the Cassini and Encke breaks, as well as its atmospheric belts.
  • Uranus and Neptune: Spot the shields of Uranus and Neptune, adding to your planetary observations.
  • Asteroids: Observe numerous asteroids, including the brightest ones like Ceres and Vesta.
  • Comets: Track the journey of comets as they traverse the Solar System, revealing their icy nature.
  • Double stars, multiple stars, and variable stars: Explore hundreds of these captivating stellar phenomena.
  • Deep Sky objects: Enjoy a vast array of Deep Sky objects, including those listed in Messier's catalog, NGC, IC, and the Caldwell catalog. You can observe open clusters like the Crib in Raku, hi chi in Perseus, or Ptolemy's Cluster in Scorpius. Additionally, explore globular clusters such as M13, where individual stars can be seen, or M53 in Barnard's Galaxy. Gas and dust nebulae, such as the perfectly visible structure of M42 in Orion and the North America Nebula in Cygnus, as well as galaxies like M31 in Andromeda with its satellite galaxies M32 and M110, will leave you awe-inspired. Don't forget to observe supernova remnants like the Veil Nebula in Cygnus and the famous Ring Nebula (M57) in Lyra.

Beyond astronomical observations, this telescope is also well-suited for observing and photographing airplanes at cruising altitudes.

Quality Tube and Robust Assembly

The telescope's metal tube strikes a balance between rigidity and weight, providing optimal stability for observations. The precise and solid frames of the main and secondary mirrors ensure long-term collimation, keeping the telescope in excellent alignment. The interior of the tube is matte and intensely blackened to minimize glare and light fading, resulting in higher image contrast when observing the Moon, planets, and bright stars.

Dobson's Mounting for Easy Use

The GSO Dobson 8 "DeLuxe 203/1200 M-CRF telescope offers user-friendly operation, allowing for convenient handling by a single observer. Similar to other telescopes with a Dobsonian mount, this telescope's object positioning is achieved through two axes: azimuth (horizontal) and altitude (vertical). Notably, the GSO Dobson's azimuth axis stands out with its superior roller bearings, ensuring smooth and light movement while providing higher precision in adjustments. The metal bearing tracks prevent damage to the assembly wood, resulting in a durable and reliable structure. GSO has also developed a new bearing system for the altitude axis. Two handles guide and secure the telescope, and the desired pressure can be adjusted using knobs on both sides of the assembly. This feature is particularly helpful when changing eyepieces, allowing for precise position and balance. Moreover, the telescope offers the flexibility to adjust the balance by altering the mounting height.

Convenient Eyepiece Extractor

Equipped with a high-quality Crayford microfocuser, the telescope offers precise focusing even at high magnifications. The Crayford focuser boasts much smoother and more accurate movement compared to simpler sliding and rotating mechanisms. It utilizes a brass ring (clamp ring) to securely fix the eyepieces, ensuring perfect axial alignment and preventing damage to the eyepiece sleeve.

Efficient Mirror Cooling

The telescope includes a 12V fan located at the end of the tube, which significantly accelerates the process of cooling the main mirror to match the ambient temperature.
