Description

The William Optics Fluorostar 132 F/6.9 APO has become a renowned name among professional astrophotographers worldwide, and the 2021 version marks the fourth iteration of this esteemed instrument. Distinguishing itself from its predecessor, this latest model boasts a larger 3.7-inch diameter lift, offering enhanced capabilities for astrophotography enthusiasts.

At the core of this refractor lies an exceptional optical system—an apochromatic triplet with an air gap—featuring lenses crafted from FPL-53 glass. Known as synthetic fluorspar, this material is manufactured by the esteemed Japanese company Ohara and is hailed as the gold standard in advanced optics production. The FPL-53 glass's remarkable properties, including a high Abbe number of 94.49, comparable to the challenging-to-process crystalline fluorspar, make it highly sought after. Additionally, all lenses are treated with a multi-layer anti-reflective STM coating, ensuring crisp, high-contrast images.

With its ample illumination disc diameter, this refractor proves to be an ideal companion for cameras and SLR cameras equipped with full-frame sensors or APS-C matrices.

It's worth noting that the Fluorostar series refractors are equipped with steel lens mounts to compensate for temperature fluctuations. When storing the telescope, it is advisable to remove the lens hood and allow any trapped moisture to evaporate before placing the instrument in a dry room at a constant temperature. This precautionary measure helps prevent potential corrosion on the lens mounts.
