The Antlia O-III 2" 4.5 nm EDGE filter is a professional astrophotographic tool designed specifically for capturing emission nebulae. It has a narrow bandwidth of 4.5 nm and transmits light at a wavelength of 500.7 nm emitted by ionized oxygen atoms. This wavelength is crucial in astrophotography as it helps capture the registration of emission nebulae effectively.
What sets the Antlia O-III 2" 4.5 nm EDGE filter apart is its ability to minimize unwanted components from sodium and mercury lamps while maintaining high transmittance for the O-III spectral line. This makes it an essential tool for astrophotographers. The filter is constructed using a high-quality glass substrate that reduces the risk of internal light reflections, ensuring optimal image quality.
Unlike ordinary broadband filters, the Antlia O-III 2" 4.5 nm EDGE filter exhibits a steep slope in its transmittance window, without a significant decrease in transmittance resulting from the shift of the maximum permeability peak (CWL). This means the filter is suitable for use with telescopes of various light intensities. The manufacturer confirms that these filters can be used in optical systems with a maximum light power of f/3, as indicated by the results of the violet shift analysis.
It's important to note that the O-III filter is not recommended for visual observation or solar observation. Its primary purpose is astrophotography.
