The Herschel Antlia wedge, accompanied by a CaK filter 3 nm 1.25", is a professional-grade device designed for capturing high-quality photographs of the Sun. This system is specifically designed to work with refractors featuring a maximum aperture of 120 mm and a maximum light of f/5.5.

The Antlia CaK 3 nm 1.25" filter, integrated into the 1.25" nosepiece of the wedge, is a specialized bandpass filter that allows the passage of radiation emitted by ionized calcium atoms. By utilizing this filter, users can capture incredibly detailed images of sunspots, surface granulation, and various other solar structures. The filter is constructed by applying a multilayer coating on a double-polished substrate made of high-temperature-resistant optical glass. With a narrow half-width of just ±3 nm for the Ca-K line transmission (393 nm), the Antlia CaK 3 nm 1.25" filter produces images with outstanding resolution and contrast. Its exceptional optical efficiency within the transmission band is complemented by its ability to effectively block out other components of the spectrum, with optical densities reaching OD3 and OD5.

Enclosed within a CNC technology casing, the optics of the Herschel wedge incorporate a shutter mechanism that regulates the amount of light entering the camera. Additionally, the kit includes a ceramic heat dissipation module equipped with supplementary heat sinks, along with a solar disc finder.
