The ZWO AM5 is a groundbreaking equatorial mount introduced in 2022, designed to meet the advanced needs of professional astrophotographers and astronomy enthusiasts. Its unique dual-mode functionality makes it a standout choice for both astrophotography and observational purposes.
The AM5 operates seamlessly in both equatorial (EQ) and azimuthal (AZ) modes, powered by high-resolution NEMA stepper motors and a wave gearbox that ensure precision of 0.5 to 0.8 arcseconds. You can control the mount using a hand controller, a mobile app, or computer software compatible with the ASCOM driver. It is also fully compatible with ASIAIR™ series controllers, enhancing its versatility for various astronomy applications.
Despite its compact and lightweight build, the ZWO AM5 delivers outstanding performance. The M12 thread on its head allows for the addition of counterweight axes, boosting its maximum load capacity from 13 kg to 20 kg. Additionally, the mount features a dedicated brake mechanism to protect the optical tube from accidental falls during power failures.
