Description

The GSO Dobson 6" DeLuxe 152/1200 M-CRF telescope stands out as a remarkable instrument for avid astronomers and stargazers alike. Its impressive features and thoughtful design enhancements make it an ideal choice for a variety of celestial observations. Let's delve into the specifics of what makes this telescope a valuable addition to any stargazer's toolkit.

Optics and Imaging Quality

At the heart of this telescope lies a superior-quality main mirror in the form of a rotating paraboloid, boasting a substantial 152 mm diameter and a focal length of 1200 mm (equivalent to a light f/8). Produced by the esteemed Taiwanese GSO factory, renowned for its high-class optics, this mirror sets the stage for exceptional imaging capabilities. With this telescope, you can capture stunning views of celestial wonders, ranging from objects within our solar system to distant star clusters, nebulas, and galaxies in the cosmos.

Versatile Observations

The GSO Dobson 6" DeLuxe 152/1200 M-CRF telescope serves as a versatile tool for conducting advanced visual observations across the entire astronomical spectrum. It excels in various observation conditions, but it truly shines under the pristine, dark skies of rural areas.

During your observations, you can expect to witness the following celestial phenomena with great clarity:

  • Craters on the Moon, showcasing intricate details and a vivid terminator region.
  • Phases of Mercury and Venus, offering glimpses of their delicate atmospheric features.
  • Mars' ice caps, prominently visible with the assistance of red, orange, and yellow filters.
  • Jupiter's atmospheric belts and the awe-inspiring Great Red Spot, along with its four prominent moons.
  • Saturn's majestic ring system, including the Cassini gap and belts.
  • The unique features of Uranus and Neptune.
  • Numerous asteroids, including the brightest ones like Ceres and Vesta.
  • Comets, icy travelers traversing the Solar System.
  • Hundreds of double, multiple, and variable stars.
  • A plethora of Deep Sky objects, encompassing the Messier, NGC, IC, and Caldwell catalogs, featuring open clusters like the Manger in Cancer, hi chi in Perseus, and the Ptolemy Cluster in Scorpio, as well as globular clusters like M13 and M53, gas-dust nebulae such as M42 in Orion and the North America Nebula in Cygnus, galaxies like M31 in Andromeda with its satellite galaxies, and supernova remnants like the Veil Nebula in Cygnus and the renowned Ring Nebula (M57) in Lyra, among many others.

Moreover, this telescope can also be used to observe and photograph aircraft flying at cruising altitudes.

Tube and Assembly

The telescope's metal tube boasts exceptional rigidity, ensuring the long-term durability of the collimation of its primary and secondary mirrors. The interior of the tube is meticulously blackened to minimize reflections and prevent stray light from interfering with your observations, which is particularly vital when observing bright celestial objects like the Moon, planets, and stars.

The telescope's assembly is straightforward and user-friendly, making it easily manageable for a single observer. It employs a Dobsonian mount, featuring smooth roller bearings in the azimuth axis for precise and effortless adjustments. This mount design ensures longevity, as metal bearing races prevent damage to the wood. The altitude axis utilizes a new bearing system developed by GSO and is controlled by two handles, with knobs for adjusting pressure to maintain balance when changing eyepieces. Additionally, the telescope allows for balance adjustments by altering the mounting height.

Focuser

Equipped with a high-quality Crayford focuser that includes a microfocuser with a 1:10 gear ratio, this telescope delivers precise focusing even at high magnifications. The focuser accommodates standard 2" and 1.25" eyepieces and enhances the user experience with smoother and more accurate focusing movements. A brass ring ensures secure eyepiece mounting, preserving axial alignment and preventing damage to the eyepiece sleeve.

Included Accessories

  • The telescope package includes the following components:
  • Optical tube with Dobsonian mounting on roller bearings.
  • 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 microfocuser.
  • Plossl eyepieces in 25 mm and 9 mm (AFOV 52°) with 1.25" barrels.
  • 6x30 finder with a crosshair reticle.
  • 1.25" eyepiece extension with a 35 mm optical path and brass ring (total length 6.5 cm).
  • 2" to 1.25" adapter with brass ring and 2" filter thread (M48x0.75).

Ready for Observations

This telescope package is designed to enable you to begin your astronomical observations on the very first clear night. It includes all essential accessories, with the optical tube optics accurately adjusted, eyepieces, and the Dobsonian mount included.
