Vixen VMC200L

The VMC200L presents a distinctive 200mm 8-inch catadioptric optical system. Unlike traditional designs, it integrates a primary mirror and a meniscus corrector just ahead of a secondary mirror, effectively correcting light twice along the optical path. This dual correction mechanism ensures high-level correction of spherical aberration and field curvature, delivering exceptional optical performance.

Key to its design is the primary mirror's f/2.5 aperture, rendering the compound optical system at f/9.75. This configuration not only enhances optical performance but also facilitates a more compact and portable form factor compared to similar systems. By positioning the optical correction before the secondary mirror, the VMC200L sidesteps the need for a corrector plate, mitigating dewing issues inherent in closed optical tubes.

Another standout feature is its rack and pinion focusing mechanism, situated behind the primary mirror. This system eliminates the image shift commonly experienced with other SCT systems, ensuring stability and ease of adjustment, particularly critical for high-power magnification and astrophotography.
