Astronomik CLS-CCD Filter

Designed to combat light pollution in DSLR cameras optimized for astronomical photography, the Astronomik CLS CCD filter significantly improves the contrast between celestial objects and their backgrounds, even under heavily light-polluted skies.

Since late 2008, we've revamped our entire line of photographic filters, now offering our latest "Halo-Free" filters.

The CLS-CCD Filter notably enhances the contrast between astronomical objects and the background by featuring a wider transmission curve compared to UHC filters, allowing more light to pass through while minimizing dimming of stars. This filter is meticulously optimized to block spurious light effectively while maintaining optimal performance for useful light. It's ideal for DSLR, CCD, and black-and-white film photography, as well as deep-sky object observation with telescopes or photo lenses of aperture f/3 and higher.

Main Use:

This filter effectively blocks emission lines from artificial light sources such as streetlights (e.g., sodium and mercury vapor) and airglow, while permitting passage of important emission lines and the spectral range visible to the night-adapted eye. Additionally, its supplementary IR-blocking layer facilitates its use with DSLRs and webcams lacking integrated IR-block filters.

In contrast to purely visual filters, photographic CCD filters feature built-in IR-blocking, mitigating optical issues caused by infrared radiation.
