Description

SII Filter: The narrowband S-II 7nm filter permits light at a 672nm wavelength with a bandpass of 3nm, specifically engineered for nebula photography.

It proves effective for capturing the nuances of most emission nebulae, planetary nebulae, and supernova remnants.

For those aiming to replicate the iconic imagery of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), such as the renowned “Pillars of Creation” in the Eagle Nebula (Messier 16), the SII (es-two) or sulfur filter emerges as a crucial addition to your collection following H-alpha and OIII. Operating as a deep red filter near 672 nm, akin to H-alpha, the SII filter, when combined with H-alpha and OIII, imparts that distinctive Hubble-like appearance to many emission nebulae. Moreover, performing tri-color narrowband imaging with these three filters remains feasible even under moonlit conditions, ensuring your equipment remains active and productive.
