Optolong Filters SHO Filter Kit 2"

Narrowband filters enhance contrast by selectively permitting specific light wavelengths, such as those corresponding to hydrogen (H-alpha at 656nm), oxygen (OIII at 501nm), sulfur (SII at 672nm), and more, to pass through while blocking others.

Description

Narrowband filters enhance contrast by selectively permitting specific light wavelengths, such as those corresponding to hydrogen (H-alpha at 656nm), oxygen (OIII at 501nm), sulfur (SII at 672nm), and more, to pass through while blocking others. They are versatile tools for astrophotography, effective even in urban areas with light pollution or during moonlit nights, regardless of exposure duration.

OIII Filter: This 3nm narrowband OIII filter facilitates nebula observation by allowing a 3nm bandwidth of light centered at 500nm wavelength, corresponding to OIII emission lines, while filtering out extraneous light.

H-alpha Filter: Ideal for high-contrast astrophotography, the narrowband H-alpha filter transmits light at 656nm wavelength, revealing intricate details of nebulae, even amidst light-polluted skies.

SII Filter: Tailored for nebula photography, the 7nm narrowband SII filter permits light at 672nm wavelength with a 3nm bandpass, suitable for capturing emission nebulae, planetary nebulae, and supernova remnants.

For achieving imagery akin to the Hubble Space Telescope's iconic captures, such as the "Pillars of Creation" in the Eagle Nebula (Messier 16), consider adding the SII filter to your collection after H-alpha and OIII. Together, these filters enable tri-color narrowband imaging, replicating the Hubble look, even during lunar phases, ensuring continuous utilization of your equipment.
