Description

The Vespera Light Pollution Filter, also known as the CLS (City Light Suppression) filter, is designed to enhance the quality of your urban or suburban astrophotography sessions. By mitigating the effects of light pollution, it elevates the contrast between celestial subjects and the night sky backdrop.

This broadband filter selectively blocks wavelengths predominantly emitted by urban and natural light sources, while permitting essential wavelengths from celestial objects to pass through. Particularly effective for deep sky photography, it enriches the brightness and detail of nebulae, star clusters, and galaxies, with emission nebulae benefiting notably due to the filtered wavelengths.

Tailored for seamless integration with the Vespera lens, the filter effortlessly attaches to the optical arm, aided by the lens ring equipped with an electronic card for automatic detection by the Vespera system. It arrives securely housed in a transparent storage box.

Usage Instructions:

  1. Remove the standard Vespera lens ring and insert the light pollution filter until you hear a click.
  2. Confirm proper alignment by connecting Vespera to your mobile device and launching the Singularity app. The term "CLS" should be displayed in the Space Center and Instrument screens.
  3. Note that the filter's effectiveness is limited for observing bright objects like the Moon, stars, and planets.
  4. Intended for urban or suburban settings or environments with ambient light, it's not optimized for pristine viewing conditions.
  5. Expect a minor reduction in stacking speed due to decreased light transmission through the sensor.
  6. The filter is not designed to counteract LED lighting and should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
  7. Store the filter in its box after each use to prevent dust accumulation.
  8. If cleaning is necessary, gently wipe the filter with an optical wipe, microfiber cloth, feather duster, or air blower.
  9. Avoid attempting to open the lens ring containing the filter.
