The Dual Motor Focus Controller (DMFC) seamlessly integrates with a variety of motors, with optimal compatibility demonstrated when used alongside the PegasusAstro Motor Focus Kit.

In the ever-evolving realm of astronomical technology, maintaining precise focus is paramount. With the advent of fast optics and modern camera devices, automatic focusing becomes essential due to the fluctuating effects of temperature on focal length. The Pegasus Dual Motor Focus Controller (DMFC) addresses these demands with finesse.

Dual Motor Support: This controller accommodates two types of motors:

  • DC motors controlled via Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) duty cycle.
  • High-resolution stepper motors for precise absolute position focusing.

Switch between motor modes effortlessly using the controller's software, with the option to toggle between 'stepper' and 'DC' motor modes, which are then saved in the controller's EEPROM memory.

Manual and PC Operation: Seamlessly transition between manual and PC operation modes. Connect to a computer via USB 2.0 for PC control, or utilize the digital encoder on the controller for manual operation, mimicking the functionality of your telescope's focuser knob. Pressing the knob reduces motor speed to 1:10.

Dual-Color Indicator: A dual-color LED (green/yellow) on the controller provides real-time feedback on motor speed. Control LED activation/deactivation via software during observation sessions, and long-press to disable the knob.

Temperature Probe: Monitor the exact temperature of the focuser/environment with the supplied one-meter digital probe. Access temperature data through the provided software or ASCOM driver.

Backlash Compensation: The controller's firmware includes a function to compensate for system backlash, ensuring precise focusing.

ASCOM and INDI Compliance: Fully compatible with ASCOM 6 and INDI, enabling easy computer control.

Standalone Program Support: Operate the controller using standalone DMFC software (available for Windows OS).

Firmware Upgrade Support: Upgrade controller firmware via USB 2.0 connection using upgrade software for future enhancements.

Robofocus Compatibility: Motor output conforms to "Robofocus ©" pin out, facilitating compatibility with various motors. Optional Stepper Motor Cable (RJ45 to DB9) required (see Recommended Accessories).
