Description

The ADC (Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector) enhances the clarity of your planetary images, particularly when they are near the horizon.

We've all encountered this issue: Saturn looms just above the horizon, but through the telescope, it appears as a blurry disk. It's frustrating—making planetary photography seem futile with the planet's light bending through the dense atmosphere, resulting in color fringing. Typically, one would wait for hours until the planet rises higher, but sometimes that's not feasible due to its orbital orientation.

Enter the Omegon ADC! This compact device delivers sharp planetary images with intricate details, even when the planet is just above the horizon.

Key Benefits:

  • Corrects atmospheric dispersion, reducing color fringing and enhancing the sharpness of planetary photos.
  • Offers a 2.5° adjustment range through two mutually adjustable prisms.
  • Features an ultra-low profile, suitable for visual observing and bino-viewers.
  • Equipped with a ring scale for easy dispersion correction adjustment.
  • Includes a 1.25" adapter with T-ring and compression ring for cameras and eyepieces, and a telescope-side 1.25" tube with a filter thread.

Understanding Atmospheric Dispersion:

Bright stars near the horizon often exhibit twinkling and colorful flickering due to heavy refraction by the Earth's thick atmosphere. This phenomenon, known as atmospheric dispersion, creates color fringes around celestial objects and blurs details. The Omegon ADC counteracts this by utilizing two rotatable prisms that simulate color fringing in the opposite direction to the Earth's dispersion, effectively compensating for it.

Components and Features:

The ADC comprises three parts: a 1.25" socket with T-2 thread, a center unit with prisms, and a T-2 to 1.25" eyepiece adapter with an additional T-2 thread and compression ring. Assembly is straightforward, fitting any telescope with a 1.25" or T-2 connection, and can be used without an adapter.

Adjustable Prisms:

The wedged-shaped prisms are made from BK7 glass with a broadband coating for high light transmission. With a 2.5° adjustment range via small levers, you can achieve precise color deflection, particularly beneficial for correcting dispersion on the horizon.

When to Use the Omegon ADC:

Primarily designed for planetary observers and photographers, the ADC is invaluable when observing planets like Saturn and Jupiter at low elevations above the horizon. It's also useful for compensating at large declinations where some fringing persists. Additionally, amateurs may find it helpful for observing binary stars or locating Sirius-B.

Additional Features:

  • Equipped with T-2 threads on both ends.
  • Offers a 30mm optically usable diameter.
  • Provides some UV transparency and infrared transmission.
  • Constructed from black-anodized metal for durability, with included dust caps for protection.

Included in the Package:

  • Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector with two adapters.
  • Dust caps.
  • Operating instructions (English).

Note: Proper alignment with the horizon is crucial for optimal functionality.
