ZWO Camera ASI 183 MM Mono

In the realm of astronomical imaging, the Sony IMX183CLK-J (monochrome) and IMX183CQJ-J (color) sensors employ a highly sensitive back-illuminated structure with a high-resolution 2.4 μm square unit pixel. Despite its small pixel size, the ASI183 cameras feature a substantial full well capacity (15000e), 1.6e read noise @ 30DB, and 12 stops dynamic range @ Gain=0.

Description

The ASI183 holds immense potential, with each feature unlocking new possibilities! This camera is well-suited for a broad spectrum of astronomical applications.

The ASI 183 camera series stands as the most sensitive cameras in ZWO's history. The mono sensor boasts a peak quantum efficiency of 84%!

Astrophotography Performance

In the realm of astronomical imaging, the Sony IMX183CLK-J (monochrome) and IMX183CQJ-J (color) sensors employ a highly sensitive back-illuminated structure with a high-resolution 2.4 μm square unit pixel. Despite its small pixel size, the ASI183 cameras feature a substantial full well capacity (15000e), 1.6e read noise @ 30DB, and 12 stops dynamic range @ Gain=0. Leveraging firmware features, the ASI183 cameras minimize amplifier glow for optimal performance in astrophotography.

Sony's back-illuminated Exmor R technology endows it with exceptional Deep Sky performance. The ASI183 QE peaks at an impressive 84%, while in the Ha channel, QE remains over 60%. High QE translates to more efficient utilization of incoming light, enhancing signal quality significantly.

High Speed

Its fast FPS capabilities find utility in solar and lunar imaging, live viewing/EAA, real-time focusing, lucky imaging of double stars and small objects, planetary imaging, and more.

Possible framerates:

  • 10Bit ADC: 5496×3672 19fps, 3840×2160 41.04fps, 1920×1080 80.10fps, 1280×720 117.30fps
  • 12bit ADC: 5496×3672 19fps, 3840×2160 36.12fps, 1920×1080 70.48fps, 1280×720 103.23fps

ST4 Port: It can connect with the auto guide port of your mount for guiding.

Color or Mono? While black and white cameras offer higher sensitivity and resolution, obtaining a color image requires additional effort, including color filters and a filter wheel.
