Description

Astronomik has designed this filter set specifically for astrophotography with CCD cameras, ensuring natural color reproduction for planets, stars, emission nebulae, and reflection nebulae. The L-RGB Typ 2c filters are optimized for CCD imaging, allowing accurate color representation for various celestial objects. Unlike other brands that may compromise on color accuracy, Astronomik prioritizes the best possible color reproduction. Both stars and spectral line-emitting objects are captured in their true colors, producing CCD images that mimic how objects would appear if they were bright enough for photopic vision. This sets Astronomik filters apart from competitors.

Key Features and Design Considerations

  • Simplified image processing for users.
  • Extremely high transmission (nearly 100%) for shorter exposure times.
  • Balanced transmissions across individual filters for optimal color fidelity.
  • Compatibility with industry standards like the sRGB color space.

Astronomik goes beyond just capturing images; the filters are designed to simplify post-processing. By aligning with the sRGB color space—commonly used by monitors, printers, and imaging software—users can achieve consistent color accuracy without needing advanced knowledge of colorimetry or color spaces.

The filters are crafted with high precision, ensuring they are parfocal with minimal wedge errors. Additionally, they are diffraction-limited to avoid degrading the performance of high-quality optical systems. Issues like focal distance mismatches or misaligned colors are effectively eliminated.

Main Use

The L-RGB filter set separates the spectrum into red, green, blue, and luminance components, enabling full-color imaging with monochrome CCD sensors. This separation aligns with the human eye's sensitivity as defined by DIN 5032 standards. By adhering to the sRGB color space throughout image capture and processing, users can maintain accurate colors in their final images. With this filter set and a compatible camera, astrophotographers can produce ideal raw data for processing within the sRGB framework.
