The Astronomik ProPlanet 742 IR-pass filter is an excellent tool for astrophotography, particularly for imaging the Moon and planets such as Mars. Designed for use with telescopes of 6" (150mm) aperture or larger, this filter allows only infrared light with wavelengths above 742 nm to pass through. By cutting off visible light, it reduces the effects of atmospheric turbulence ("seeing") and enhances image sharpness. Additionally, it enables planetary and lunar photography even during daylight by darkening the sky background.
