The Astronomik UHC is the ideal filter for visual observing. Using the Astronomik UHC filter enhances your stargazing experience, allowing you to see more stars and intricate details in deep-sky objects compared to other filters. This Ultra High Contrast (UHC) filter transmits nearly 100% of the radiation from O-III and H-beta spectral lines while effectively blocking scattered light and artificial pollution. Although the H-alpha band is not intended for visual use, it becomes essential when paired with electronic devices. By reducing sky background brightness, this filter reveals an unexpected wealth of detail in gas and planetary nebulae.
Optimized for Performance
The Astronomik UHC filter delivers exceptional results even with small telescopes starting at 2" (50mm) aperture. Its high transmission ensures sufficient light for successful observations, while its design is optimized for telescope focal ratios between f/4 and f/15. Unlike other filters, it maintains sharp star images without chromatic distortion or transmission loss, except in extreme cases with focal ratios faster than f/2. The optical quality of the glass guarantees pinpoint stars and clear views comparable to observing without a filter.
Durability and Versatility
This filter features multi-layer coatings that are resistant to scratches, moisture, and aging effects. Its robust construction ensures long-lasting performance. Additionally, it is parfocal with other Astronomik filters, eliminating the need for refocusing when switching between filters.

Specifications:
  • Passband: 465–530 nm & above 645 nm
  • Frame: Clip-Filters for Canon EOS cameras
  • Mount material: Aluminium
  • Visually useful: No
  • Useful for photographs: Yes
  • Anti-light pollution: Yes
The Astronomik UHC filter is ideal for astrophotography and excels in reducing light pollution. While it is not designed for visual observing in this configuration, it performs exceptionally well in imaging applications when combined with additional filters such as IR-block filters. With its superior performance, durability, and versatility, this filter is a must-have tool for astrophotographers seeking enhanced contrast and detail in their deep-sky images.
