Astrozap AstroSolar solar filter, 306mm-316mm (45990)

AstroSolar™ delivers a neutral white image of the Sun, unlike other films or glass filters that often create a blurry bluish or reddish appearance by cutting parts of the spectrum. This neutral color balance is particularly advantageous for observing faculae regions, which are most visible in the blue wing of the spectrum and can be difficult to discern with an orange-tinted Sun.

Description

AstroSolar™ delivers a neutral white image of the Sun, unlike other films or glass filters that often create a blurry bluish or reddish appearance by cutting parts of the spectrum. This neutral color balance is particularly advantageous for observing faculae regions, which are most visible in the blue wing of the spectrum and can be difficult to discern with an orange-tinted Sun.

The neutral tone of AstroSolar™ also allows observers to use various color or interference filters. These filters enable focused observation of specific spectral passbands, facilitating detailed investigations of different layers within the solar atmosphere.

Superior Design and Safety

AstroSolar™ stands out for its exceptional quality. Unlike even the most expensive glass filters, it is coated on both sides, significantly reducing the likelihood of overlapping pinholes. Pinholes may appear but are extremely rare—approximately 1 in 10,000 in optical density 2.5.

This film has been rigorously tested and approved for eye safety by Germany's National Bureau of Standards (PTB). Additionally, AstroSolar™ is CE-certified according to EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). All manufacturing processes are meticulously monitored, and coatings undergo constant inspection to ensure consistency and safety for users.

Construction Details

The Baader AstroSolar™ film filter is housed in a lightweight yet durable frame made from 18-gauge aluminum, powder-coated white for durability. It features heavy-duty threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews to ensure a secure fit during use.
