With AstroSolar™, the Sun is observed in a neutral white color. In contrast, other films and some glass filters often produce a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This is particularly problematic with an orange-tinted Sun, as it makes it difficult to see faculae regions, which are primarily visible in the blue wing of the spectrum.

Thanks to its neutral color balance, AstroSolar™ allows the use of various color or interference filters. These filters enable observers to focus on specific spectral passbands, facilitating detailed studies of different layers within the solar atmosphere.

Superior Quality and Safety

AstroSolar™ is virtually free from pinholes due to its double-sided coating. This design minimizes the risk of overlapping pinholes, a common issue even with high-end glass filters. While pinholes may still occur, they are extremely rare—approximately 1 in 10,000 in optical density 2.5.

The Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has been approved for eye safety by the National Bureau of Standards in Germany (PTB). It is also CE-certified according to EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). Every aspect of its production undergoes rigorous testing, and the coatings are consistently inspected to ensure maximum safety for users.
